OPI go with The Lava flow

I’ve challenged myself to commit to one nail polish post per week, since I’ve got so many untrieds in my stash! I change my nail polish on a weekly basis but I’m not always disciplined enough to take photos of the manicure. I’m hoping to change that! this week I’m sharing with you the mani that I wore last week, OPI go with The Lava Flow.

This shade was part of the OPI Hawaii collection from spring 2015. I picked this polish up for $5 when I hauled a bunch of OPIs.

On OPI’s site, the tagline for this polish is:

You can feel the heat shimmering off this golden red.

I wouldn’t just call this a red. It registers as a bright red-coral, due to the golden shimmer flecks.

Application was a breeze, here’s the first coat:

And here’s the second coat:

I was also really impressed with the wear time, this is how the manicure looks on day 7, just before I removed it:

Some tip wear, a tiny bit of a chip on my thumb at the side (which is where I typically use to peel stuff off or dig into something, heh).  For reference, I use Orly Naitrition, then Orly Bonder as bases, then I apply Poshe top coat. These are my standard base and top coats.

I saw a nail polish blog that showed bottle / brush shots like this (sorry, I forgot which blog it was, I’ll link it if I find it) and I really liked how it showed the details of both the brush and polish – here I am trying to emulate it. I’d like to think the polish droplet shot a few photos up is my signature polish bottle image!

Here’s a close-up shot of the bottle and nails – it’s full of golden shimmers that really shines in daylight.  Removal of the polish requires slightly more effort due to the shimmers, but not at all as difficult as full-on glitters.

OPI Go With The Lava flow is the perfect summery shade and looks especially striking on tanned skin.  What’s your current favourite summery nail polish shade?

Review: Essie Gel Couture Pinned Up & top CoatFinally, Essie comes out with their version of the “gel” nail polish. I normally dismiss gel polishes that do not require UV lamps. I’ve paid close attention to reviews on the recent slew of “gel” polish releases that tout: amazing shine! Smooth finish! Uzun giyim! Ultimately, they turn out to not to…

Collective nail polish AcquisitionsAs you’ve seen in yesterday’s post, I’ve been hitting up all the Winners and Marshalls within a 10km radius of my home last month. I also visited my favourite salon supply shop that sells polishes for cheap – they still had the Essie buy 4 get 2 free offer, and…
